I had a very interesting event that took place today. So, I decided to write about it. Keep in mind, I haven’t written any blogs since MYSPACE era. So, has anyone ever misplaced their car key? It’s quite annoying. You can’t go to your destination and it causes delay of where you’re trying to go to. So you find yourself fussing about it and trying to retrace back to your memory. It causes stress and frustration.
Over the weekend, I’ve been using my wife’s car, so there was no need to carry mine. Suddenly on Sunday night at around 10:30PM while I’m trying to go to sleep, a question popped in my head, “Where’s my car key?” I haven’t seen it in awhile. So I got up started looking for it. My wife who was sick and stayed in bed for the whole entire weekend and she was staring at me and found it very entertaining when I was going back and forth in our room, going in and out of the bathroom, looking in my closet, checking every pants that I wore, looking underneath the bed, the dresser, the cabinet and opening all the drawers. She watched me for awhile, until I got to her territory. As I tried to open her drawers, I felt the heat from her eyes penetrating through my back. Then she finally asked, “What are you looking for?” “My car key,” I responded. Since this is not the very first time that I’ve misplaced my car key, she started naming it where I usually find it, “Did you check the man-cave?” “Did you check the bathroom?” “Did you check the garage… your pants… your dirty laundry… the boys’ room?” and she named pretty much every room and everything inside the house before she finally got up and helped me looked for them. I was glad that she helped me because every time I was looking for something, she can easily find them. She has those big rounded eyes with a vision of an eagle. So, we went every inch of the house and pretty much flipped everything. If she couldn’t find it, it’s like “uh oh!”. The only thing that we’ve found was candies, popcorns, and chicken nuggets in weird places where the boys hid them. That night I was restless and it was 12:30AM before calling it a night because I had to get up at 5AM in the morning. Anyhow, I finally went to bed unsatisfied and it was unfulfilling. After I got up the next morning… I did my morning devotions, got ready for work, and did a final looked around the house… and yet it was nowhere to be found. I went outside around the house… NOTHING! The only thing that I saw was our trash cans and the recycling bin that’s beside the road ready to be picked up. There I was “FRESH AND SO CLEAN CLEAN!” thinking about diving in the trash cans. I was contemplating if it’s worth it. As you can see, Palm Bay City only picks up the trash once a week. Savannah loves chicken and she loves to cut the raw fats! As I got closer to the trash, I could already smell the stench and it’s like 30 feet away. “Is it worth it Edgar, is it really that worth it!?!?” I asked to myself. I saw flies flying around the trash and maggots crawling out of it. To those of you who knows me well, I hate maggots! I am one of those people who jumps on a chair, scream, and point out the creature… well in this case it would be “Aaaahhhh maaaaggots!” The moment I wanted to walk away and say it’s not worth it, I heard the garbage truck nearby! “Uh-oh… it’s now or never I said to myself!” So there I was diving in for the touchdown. Of course, I started with the recycling bin which was a lot cleaner. I had my nice button shirt over my nose trying to dig in there; however, I could see in my peripheral vision that the garbage truck is getting closer… “Hurry Edgar! Hurry!” I told myself. So, I was staring at the trash as I was already giving up. My cologne is defeated from the foul smell of that rotten and decaying chicken flesh from 5 days ago. My neighbors who are going to work were staring at me! The driver of the garbage truck was staring at me! The people who were driving by were staring at me! The dogs and cats were staring out through the windows… Heck, the maggots were staring at me! So, I grabbed a stick and did what I had to do and tackled the garbage can and that’s when the world stopped. The birds stopped singing and flew away and the raccoons were astonished! While I was digging inside the garbage can with half of my body is inside and my rear end and legs were up in the air with my nose covered, the stench was penetrating through the fabrics of my clothes. The smell was so bad that it stained my shirt. I was digging and gagging simultaneously! After couple of minutes of digging in and interrupting the nest that the maggots had built, the garbage truck had stopped in front of our house… hmmm… it was an interesting morning for the both of us. So, I got out of the garbage cans and looked at the guy with teary eyes and my shirt over my nose, “Hi” and I waved. As I walked toward our garage, I was still gagging and still no car key! My clothes were wrinkled and I smell like 5 days old rotten chicken… I walked in the house and my wife was surprised that I was still at home and she smiled and said “You missed me already,” until she smelt me. It’s funny to see her smile turned into a distaste look. “I’m taking a personal day off,” I said. So, I stripped off my smelly clothes and sat down on the side of my bed looking defeated. As I sat down near to my end table, I noticed my Bible and the 5C’s book from CCM stacked on top of each other. Next to it was my mini rounded boom-box. As I pulled my Bible, the car key was somewhat attached to it and I did not realized that the key was tucked underneath the boom box. Oh the rainy gray clouds had cleared for the sun to shine on the glorious Monday morning. Angels came down from Heaven with a loud trumpet while the others were singing Hallelujah! “Oh yes it is, Praise the Lord Almighty!” The moral of the story is that we’re always trying to find the meaning, the purpose, and the answers to our lives. Sometimes we tend to look in the wrong places. Some of us have tried going back by following the traces of our past and unable to let go. Also, we’re looking inside a garbage can that the world has to offer and bound to get so messy and defeated when we couldn’t find the fulfillment that we’re yearning for. I don’t know where you at in life and I don’t know where your heart is, but God does. As you can see, the answer is actually next to us all along. All we have to do is pick up the Bible and we will find the key to our lives is Jesus Christ. Jesus said on John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelations 3:20). #jesusisthekey #jesusisthekeytolife #thewaythetruthandthelife #godisawesome
