The battle is in the mind all day. Satan always tries to plant thoughts in our mind and he'll use all of our senses to make it happen. It is in the things we touch, taste, smell, hear, or see and sometimes he’ll throw in combinations just to throw us off of our course with God. It's like a boxing match, he'll jab you a few times, throw combination punches so you’ll lose your balance, and then he'll try to sneak in for a big power punch. Often times, he wants you think he'll throw a hook shot but he's really trying to set you up with a big uppercut. When your defense is good, he'll throw a combination in different angles to open up opportunities for him to get a big shot on you. However, you can’t fight when all you’re doing is defending because eventually, he’ll catch you. Maybe some of us are just defending and we’re busy hitting the canvas instead of hitting our enemies. Some of us are constantly getting knocked down because of our strongholds or circumstances arise and we throw in the towel. Several months before the boxing match begins, both fighters will have to prepare themselves by studying their opponents’ films of their previous fights. They will dissect it and look for weaknesses. Likewise, our enemy watches us all day and every day. The enemies know our weaknesses. He knows when to distract us with jabs before he'll go for combinations and then he’ll go for a knockout punch. As you can see, we can counteract his moves and we have the strategies to fight him and that's by studying the Word of God. That's why it is very important for us to study The Bible to prepare us fight our enemies and if Satan tries to deceive and tempt us, we can counter-punch him by saying "It is written!" Though he'll be knocked out, he'll keep coming back for rematches. Through these battles, he can stun us, knock us down, and we’ll get battered and bruised. However, we'll stand up and continue the fight! The comfort is that we cannot be beaten because we have the strength through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Bible says: Isaiah 40:29-31 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 Jesus said to Paul, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." So, Paul wrote, “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” We will always win and it’s not because of our abilities, not because of our strength, nor our skills, or our will, but because we have God on our side and He is for us. The recognition of our weaknesses shows that we are dependent on God. Jesus Christ has already won the victory for us. Because of Jesus Christ, we are empowered! Because of trials in our life, He is building our faith and our character. Let's keep in mind that we will fight the good fight and in the end God is the Judge!
