The reason why we struggle spiritually and feel like we're spiritually depleted:
1. We focus and meditate on the wrong thing. Instead of reading and studying the Word of God, we focus more on social media; such as, Facebook, Instagram, Tweeter, and so forth. We're just too busy looking at our PC, tablets, or smartphones looking at Craigslist, Ebay, Amazon, The Highlights Reel, News, Youtube and etc... We're also too busy watching television and it comes to a point when there's nothing to watch and find ourselves like a zombie who is mindless just flipping through channels repeatedly, until something captures our eyes. In reality, our eyes should be focus on our Lord Jesus Christ. 2. We're not eating correctly and not exercising regularly. We’re always physically exhausted and mentally drained. We're too tired to pray and read the Bible. We may want to read the Bible and study His Word. We may want to talk to Him about our issues and spend time with Him, but because our body is too worn out, we place God in the backseat in our lives. Our mind is willing, but the body is weak. 3. We take control. When we are faced with trials, we get emotional and tend to take over the steering wheel by pushing God to the passenger side. The problem is that we're doing it our way and on our terms instead of relying on God. That's why we keep running into problems or issues, because we keep going to the wrong direction. As you can see, the enemies know where to attack us. They're watching our moves and every time we take a step for God, he'll throw a stumbling block so that we stumble into the wrong paths. His goal is to throw us off course and de-motivate us in our walk with Christ. He has all these worldly tools to utilize, so that our focus is not on God. Whenever we get mad, upset, or stressed, we should bring it to God who is greater than any of our circumstances. Instead, we follow the world’s GPS and don't ask God for directions and guidance. The truth is that we should rely on spiritual GPS (Getting Prayers Said). On 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. How to overcome the distractions: 1. Our body is the temple of God. We must take care of it so that we have the energy to do the works that God had set for us (our calling). Also, if we're too tired and exhausted to have our alone time with Him, we missed out of what He is trying to tell us. Our heart, our eyes, and our mind must be focused on Jesus Christ who matters the most. When we feel distant and don't feel His presence, we need to eliminate all the noise in our lives. We need to Fast on food or even on Facebook, Instagram, television, and so on... Then we use that time to Pray, Study His Word, and Listen to Him. The truth is that it is not that we're waiting on God to respond to our prayers, it's God who is patiently waiting on us to listen to what He is telling us! It is up to us to make the next step. 2. Take a leap of Faith! The Bible says “Walk by Faith and not by Sight”! When Abraham heard the voice of God without the full details of where he was going, he obeyed and left and walked by faith. Though he was rich and comfortable where he was at, he got up and left the city that’s full of paganism because his inheritance is more important than his current location. So, here’s a decision that we want to make that if you really want to experience God, “Is what God has for you more important than where you are?” Do you love the world so much and you’re willing to lose your destiny? God knows where he’s going to take you, but you must be willing to leave your comfort zone. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). In conclusion, we are very leaky due to our sins. We need to be refilled with the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ never had to be refilled with the Holy Spirit because He is perfect and lived on Earth a sinless life. The Holy Spirit was over flowing and Jesus was contagious! Keep in mind that we have that same power living in us! Keep in mind that all things are possible through Christ who strengthens us. God’s responsibility is the outcome and our responsibility is being obedient to God. No matter what the situations are, God is greater than our circumstances and He tells us to “Be Still and know that HE IS GOD!"
