My heart is torn. It's torn because of what is going on around us.
The things that I keep hearing on the news and social media. It always starts with bickering among each other and then it turns into a heated debate. Then we tend to stir things up and continue to fuel the fire. Consequently, we allow our hearts to be contaminated with hate. That’s why we have Blacks versus Whites, Police versus Civilians, Republicans versus Democrats, LGBT versus Christians, and then on top of all these... the Anti-Obamas and Anti-Trumps are protesting violently. Then of course there are those who are Anti-Confederate Flags, Anti-Guns, and the list goes on and on… I have to check myself too because I could easily get caught up with the mess because I could get emotional. I could get emotional because I know ALL LIVES MATTER and what's more important is their eternal destination. I could get emotional because I love my country and my country is falling apart right before my eyes. We’re more divided than ever. Why is there so much chaos? Why is there so much hate in the hearts of people? Why is there so much violence? Because as a society and as a nation, we have booted God out of the picture. We took Christ out of our lives. People don’t want to hear this because they don’t want the truth. As you can see, Jesus is the Prince of Peace. He's the one who works in us and through us.
I’m not saying that Christ Followers are perfect, because we’re far from that. I’m not implying that we’re better than the non-believers, because we need God’s grace and mercy every day. As you can see, before we came to Christ, we needed Jesus to govern our lives. My point is, we all need Christ! This world needs Christ! Every day is a spiritual battle. The things that are going on is spiritual warfare. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” Ephesians 6:12. Satan’s goal is to divide and create havoc. He comes to steal, kill, and destroy and this is why people are killing each other. And this is why my heart is torn.

When watching the news today, we may say what in the world is going on?
1. There are Racial Tensions in America 2. Persecution of Christians in America and around the globe. 3. Society is trying to redefine marriage and that causes a lot of tension between what’s right and what’s wrong. The correct answer is that the Bible is the truth and we need to stand for the Word of God. Then of course there are politicians who will try to convince us that they have figured it out, so they want us to vote for them. The world couldn’t figure it out. As you can see, the root cause is that Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). He’s here to divide the world, to divide our nation, and to divide our home. However, God is about unity. Satan will use anyone who will allow themselves to be used by him. Think of Isis. What about here on our own soil and all the division that is going in America? There is a lot of hate in this world! Our nation seems to be spiraling out of control towards self-inflicted disaster due to self-centeredness, anti-truth and worldly wisdom, calling what is evil- good and what is good- evil. Just read James 3:13-18. As you can see, Satan’s time is coming to an end and he knows it. No matter what he does, he can’t win. So, he’s throwing a temper tantrum. That’s why the world is out of control. While we’re here on earth, we have a purpose. Jesus commanded us to go and make disciples. When God said “be fruitful and multiply”- He commanded us to have children and raise them to know God and to have a personal relationship with Him. As a Christ Follower, our responsibility is to spread the good news. The Gospel. Our Salvation. In other words, broadcasting that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Our purpose is to expand God’s Kingdom and by doing that, we have to love one another- and by this people will know we are Christ’s disciples. You may say… "Well, you don’t know my boss!" "If only you knew my co-workers!" "My mother in law is so bossy and annoying!?!?" Honestly, you still have to love them! You don’t have to like them, but you still have to love them… My sisters had to put up with me through these years so they don’t like me, but yet they still love me. God wants us to love one another. The moment we become Christ Followers, people are watching us. This world is dark and people are gravitated by the light that’s in us because God resides in us. If we react in flesh by cussing and fussing and complaining, the people who are seeking God and watching us knowing the fact that we’re Christians, may get the wrong impression of God. Our reaction will turn them away. We must be led by the Holy Spirit and allow Him to empower us. Living in this world and trying to fight the spiritual battle with our own strength is impossible. We need God the Holy Spirit. We have to submit to God and have Him work in us and through us. The questions that we need to ask ourselves… How’s our quiet time with the Lord? How often do we talk to Him? How frequent do we read and meditate His Word? 1. We must be in the Word of God daily and meditate His words. 2. We’ll fight the spiritual battles through our prayers! 3. Ask God to continue to operate our heart and to mold us to be more like Him each day. Crucify our old self daily and comes the new. Therefore, our character shows Love, Forgiveness, Joy, Peace, Forbearance, Kindness, Goodness, and Faithfulness. As you can see, people who are seeking the truth are observing our walk with Christ. · People who are empty are looking for that fulfillment and the only one who can fill that void is Jesus Christ. · People who are hurt and wanting a new start, Jesus is the answer. · People who are lost and looking for a new direction, Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. When they see our character and it matches who we claim to be as Christ Followers, the door will be open for discipleship. The greatest commandments are to Love God and Love People. Jesus said love one another and by this everyone will know that you are my disciples. One of the teachers of the law asked Jesus “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. ’There is no commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:28-31). |
